Buying your first house is truly a big deal! In this 8-hour, in person class we will cover everything you need to know about the buying process and owning a home afterwards. You will learn the steps involved in buying, how to set goals, and prepare for homeownership, explore loan products and credit, protect and grow your investment, and how to avoid being ripped off. A Homebuyers Education Certificate can help you access down payment assistance or mortgage products that require HUD-certified homebuyers education—for most organizations it’s good for two years. Social Security Q & A*

This is an educational program for people who are nearing retirement age (55+) who have questions about how Social Security actually works. The 15-minute presentation will help you answer these questions. How does Social Security fit into your retirement income plan? When should you start taking benefits? What about taxes? There will be a question and answer session at the end of the presentation. A Zoom option is available by emailing janderson@rsu18.org after you have registered. Storm makeup will be April 29. Trip to Boston: Book of Mormon on Broadway

Join us for an unforgettable experience on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, as we embark on a day trip to Boston to see the musical comedy Book of Mormon for the 2:00 pm showing. We've pre-booked the tickets so that we have a great view of this performance.
The adventure begins with a convenient motorcoach bus pickup, offering two options: Waterville HS Back Parking Lot or the Gardiner 295 Rest Stop. Relax and enjoy the scenic journey as we make our way to the vibrant city of Boston.
Before the show, we'll make a stop at Quincy Market, where you can explore the diverse range of food vendors and choose your own delicious lunch. Take in the lively atmosphere and perhaps pick up some souvenirs before heading to the show.
We'll arrive to the Charles Playhouse to enjoy the immersive and entertaining performance of Book of Mormon. Be prepared for a unique blend of music, comedy, and plotline that will leave you in stitches.
Following the show, we'll visit High Street Place food court for you to grab a bite to eat allowing you to unwind and share your favorite moments from the show with fellow travelers.
As the day comes to a close around 6:00 pm, we'll board the motorcoach for a comfortable journey back to Maine, arriving in Gardiner at approx. 8:00 pm and Waterville at 8:30 pm.
The all-inclusive ticket price of $210 covers your admission to the Book of Mormon show, as well as round-trip bus fare for a hassle-free and enjoyable day.

So the Kids Want a Pony!*

Are you thinking of adding a horse or pony to your family? Before you TOTALLY refuse your wonderful loving family or make such a major commitment, there are many things to consider. Join us to learn about what it takes to care for a horse or pony for feed, space, housing, good health and wellness, pasture pals, and the various grasses and diseases. We will also discuss equine behavior, anatomy, and physiology. We encourage families to join this class—young people 8 to 16 must be accompanied by their participating parent or guardian. Limit 25 students.
Learn to Ride a Bike*
with Erik DeSilva, Bike Coalition of ME
If you never learned to ride a bike as a kid, you’re not alone and you’re not too late! We will guide you through simple steps to help get you rolling and build your confidence on two wheels. This class is open to teenagers and adults who haven’t learned to ride a bike before. Bring a 2-wheel bike to learn on—one where the seat can be set low enough to sit with both heels flat (no “tip-toes”) on the ground and knees slightly bent. We will focus on balancing, pedaling, and bicycle control. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17. When registering please mark this date on your calendar just in case it rains on May 10. Donations are welcome to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine by cash or check at class or via their website at www.bikemaine.org/donate. Limit 5 students.

Preserving the Harvest: Jams and Jellies*

Has this long winter made you dream about strawberries and perhaps making some jams or jellies? Well, strawberry season is coming right up, and this hands-on food preservation workshop will teach you the basics steps for both canning and freezing. Participants will receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation packet and will learn the latest and safest recipes, about equipment to insure safety, and how to check for properly sealed jars. Please bring a potholder with you to the workshop, so you will be able to take home a jar of what we prepare that evening! Limit 10 students.
