Paint your Pet

Come join Shirley Anderson for an engaging and beginner-friendly ‘Paint your Pet’ class! In this workshop budding artists will receive step-by-step guidance to create a beautiful portrait of their beloved furry of feathered companions. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this class is a fun and rewarding experience as you immortalize your pet on canvas. After signing up for this class you will receive instructions on how to send your photos to the instructor prior to the class. You will need to send five good quality photos of your pet. Limit 10 students.

Photography: After Dark*

This class, taught via Zoom, will explore all of the things you need to know to take successful images after sunset and before sunrise. This session reviews exposure, how to shoot images in the dark—including the Milky Way and Aurora—and how to capture your best photo under moonlight. We will review equipment helpful for nighttime photography, including using a cell phone. 

Dichroic or Fused Glass Jewelry*

In this class YOU choose what to make: Dichroic Glass or Fused Glass Jewelry!

The Dichroic Glass students will make a unique beautiful jewelry set that reflects light by stacking metal oxides together. For the Fused Glass students you will place pieces of glass together to create two sets of pendants, pins, and earrings. View the instructors original art on the Mid-Maine Adult Education website.

Dichroic Glass Students: There is a $95 Materials Fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor, check or cash, at the start of the first class.

Fused Glass Students: There is a $50 materials fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor, case or check, at the start of the first class.

There will be a storm make-up class on Nov. 9, if needed. 

Holiday Ornaments*

With a slab of clay you will use molds to make about 8 to 9 ornaments and have enough clay left for your creative embellishments. The second class will be paint night. The instructor will take the artwork home after each class to be fired twice. The ornaments will be ready to pick up 2-4 weeks after the last class. There is a $30 materials fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor (cash or check) at the start of class. This will cover the cost of clay, glaze, and firing. Limit 10 students.

Needle Felting for Beginners & Intermediates: Make a Snowman!*

You will make an approximate 6-inch snowman from white wool fibers to enjoy decorating with during the coming holiday and winter season. Choose to add a miniature red cardinal and faux greenery in your snowman’s arms and or make a winter hat and scarf from your choice of fiber colors to keep him “snug.”

There will be a $15 materials fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor at the start of the class (cash or check). All materials will be provided.

Students between the ages of 13-16 are invited to register with a registering parent or guardian. This is a fun, very do-able activity for teenagers. There will be a storm make-up class on December 14, in needed. Limit 10 students
