Create an Easter DecoMesh Wreath

Join ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, to create a beautiful deco-mesh wreath for your Easter celebration! Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is separate from the $30 registration fee. Amy will guide you through the process to create a cute Easter wreath to take home at the end of the class. The finished size is approximately 24 inches! You will have a choice of 4 different designs to pick from at the start of class. Each wreath design will have enough materials to create 5 wreaths. This is a beautiful, educational, & ecological tour to the farthest reaches of Messalonskee Lake aboard the Snowdrifter II--a 25' Godfrey Sanpan Limited Edition Luxury Cruiser. Students will see firsthand the invasive milfoil as it passes alongside the boat just inches below the lake surface. Learn about statewide eradication efforts while enjoying the natural beauty of Messalonskee Lake. Search for Sandhill Cranes and endangered Least Bittern and Black Tern as we travel through the 1300-acre emergent wetland known as the Messalonskee Lake Marsh. The North American Bald Eagles may make their presence known, and you will learn about the history of the area and lake. Captain Gary is a Registered Maine Guide and licensed commercial boat operator. A Rain date will be scheduled, if needed. The boat is handicap accessible for standard-size wheelchairs. Students between the ages of 10-17 years old must be accompanied by a registered parent/guardian. Bathrooms will be available on shore. Please mark your calendar and register by June 9th. There will be no refunds after Sunday, June 9th. The class requires a total of 8 students to run.

Messalonskee Lake & Steam are wonderful natural resources of the mid-Maine region and offer numerous recreational and conservation activities. Mike Guarino of Maine Wilderness Tours and Friends of Messalonskee Watershed gets you on the water and learning hands-on in this one-day class in JULY! If you have always wanted to learn to kayak and explore the lake's ecology, this is the class for you. Students will receive a free kayak lesson and will be provided all equipment needed. Identification of flora and fauna in the lake and stream will be taught on land followed by a kayak paddle along shore to find various specimens.

Although we will be staying close to shore, all students must know the basics of how to swim. Please wear water shoes; a bathing suit or shorts, sunglasses or polarized glasses, sunscreen, and hat are also helpful and appropriate. Please come prepared with extra clothes just in case you get wet. All students must be 17 to register. If needed, a Rain Date will be announced. Limit 8 students.
