Art In an Evening: Gustav Klimt's Messalonskee W19

Calendar Mar 27, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

In these three-hour paint sessions, you will paint a masterpiece and be able to take it home. No art experience is needed! Doreen provides the paint, brushes, canvas, aprons, easels, and instructions to create your art project. You will leave class with a smile and find your artistic side. Wonderful for gift giving or that room you have just redecorated. In the first session we will paint Klimt’s “Owls” - and who doesn’t love owls! Then we will let Picasso’s “Rooster” inspire us with his color and design - a fun piece to paint! A $45 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of each class. Limit 18 students. Storm date will be the following Wednesday.

Empty Bowls Community Pottery Project Messalonskee W19

In this class you learn to make and glaze slab bowls that will contribute to the supply of bowls for the Empty Bowls Dinner here at Messalonskee High School on Mar. 8. You will make two bowls to take home to use as a gifts or decorations and the other two bowls will contribute to an evening event that will help the food pantries in our RSU 18 communities. Dress in work clothes. A $15 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class and covers the cost of clay, glaze, and firing of your two bowls. Limit 12 students. Pick up is Feb. 7, 3:00-3:30 pm. Storm dates of Feb. 7 and 14.

Do some shopping for Mother’s Day or for your self during this one-night class. We will make a beautiful pendant, basic earrings, and bracelet. If you have a special stone you are welcome to bring it to use for your pendant. All other supplies will be provided. A $15 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Limit 8 students.

Learn to Crochet Messalonskee W19

Calendar Mar 21, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 6 weeks
Students will meet with the teacher for the first night or two of class to learn the basics of crocheting. (These first two classes are a must especially if you are a beginner.) The next sessions will be reading a pattern and stitches not yet covered. We will work on a project of your choice from a selection of the teacher’s patterns and make practice pieces of each stitch. You will need a K or J crochet hook and a skein of worsted (4 ply) light colored yarn the first night of class. Limit 8 students. No class Apr. 18. Storm date of May 9.

Learn earring making in one evening. Create your own unique fashion accessories and make beautiful gifts for friends or family. You will make three pairs of earrings in class using tools and materials supplied by the instructor. Additional pairs can be created and purchased for $7/pair, if desired. A $30 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Student limit 10
