Learn to Make Earrings! March W19

Learn earring making in one evening. Create your own unique fashion accessories and make beautiful gifts for friends or family. You will make three pairs of earrings in class using tools and materials supplied by the instructor. Additional pairs can be created and purchased for $7/pair, if desired. “The world is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” (W.B. Yeats) All around us is the wider world – nature - that often goes unseen and unheard. Awaken your curiosity and come explore your journey in nature through art and words. Using cloth-bound journals and a variety of media and subjects, focused on both the biological and artistic sides, you will create beauty as seen through your eyes. Various found objects - and please bring your own finds - will be used for contour drawing, cyanotypes, marbleizing, prints, sketches, poems, and other media. Plan to venture outdoors for a portion of the time, as weather permits. Ages 17 and up are welcome. Please register by April 24. A $15 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Limit 12 students

Pastels for All Levels W19

In this class we will explore the medium of pastels to create vibrant and luminous paintings. In addition to learning the techniques of painting in pastels, students will experiment with using expressive color in a variety of subject matter, with a concentration on landscapes. The principles of composition, design, value and color will be integrated in all sessions and the care and framing of pastel paintings will be explained. In this class you will work in a variety of methods to produce clay objects. Glazing and decorating techniques will be covered. Come with your ideas and dressed in work clothes. A $25 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. No class Apr. 17. The seventh session will be a half hour long, so students will be able to pick up their artwork, May 8, 3:00-3:30 p.m. Limit 12 students. Storm dates will be added to end of class.

Spring Flower Arrangement W19

Come explore with me. Learn how to create a spring centerpiece for your home, or as a gift to brighten up another home! We will use a variety of ferns and spring flowers to create an arrangement that can be viewed from all sides. You may discover that there are many plants around you which you can use to create with once you know what to look for. You will be able to use you new skills to make arrangements year round. Please bring either a sharp knife or pair of scissors. An $8 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Limit 15 students.

In this class Beginner students will learn the step-by-step process of Tiffany’s copper foil stained glass design. You will complete a beautiful panel; participate in a field trip on Mar. 14, to the new stained glass shop in Manchester. At the end of the class you will have gained the fundamental skills to continue a new and beautiful hobby/craft. The kit is $75, and there will be other materials that you will need to purchase, such as glass. For Intermediate students: You will work independently and under the teacher’s watchful eye as you advance your techniques. A $10 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of the class. If you have been thinking about learning stained glass or improving your skill this is your chance! Limit 8 students. Storm date of Apr. 25.
