Dog Training Basics*

This is a beginner dog training class designed for both the young and the not-so-young. We work in small groups with several trainers assisting. The first night will be an Orientation & Information night, held on Monday, April 7, at the Fairfield Community Center for the two-legged family members only. (Please register only one human per dog; however, two humans may attend with one dog.) You will receive a helpful manual, and many topics will be discussed, including behavior concerns, commands taught (such as walking on a loose leash, stay, and come exercises), and other techniques.

The following four classes will include dogs and owners and will be held at the Fairfield Community Center from 6:00-7:00 p.m. All dogs must be on a leash at all times, and NO dogs will be allowed if they are aggressive.

When you register online, the Adult Education Office will send you a packet that you need to print, read, sign, and bring to class with you. Please bring proof of vaccinations, a $125 materials fee payable to the instructor (cash or check), and your completed packet to the orientation night.

In this fun interactive class, you'll be draped in a variety of colors to learn about warmer and cooler tones to determine what types of colors look best on you. You'll also receive recommendations for eye shadows, blush and lipsticks, along with sunglasses colors and jewelry metals to flatter your coloring!! Limit 12 students.

Basket Making with Bittersweet Vine*

The so-called “oriental” or round leaf bittersweet is a creeping vine with inedible berries that is considered invasive in North America. It is a frustrating plant for gardeners and arborists, and it isn't very popular with birds either. But in this class we will make a traditional basket from its vines. We will cover identification, responsible collection, processing, and storage. We will cover the basics of stake-and-strand twining, and weaving to create a basket that you will cherish for many years to come. Limit 10 students.

How to Cast a Fly Rod

Learn fundamentals of casting from a Fly Fishers International Certified Casting Instructor. Beginners to advanced casters welcome. You will learn on a one-to-one basis how to make the basic cast, a roll cast, line management, casting in wind, aerial mends and other useful casting techniques. Special Instructions: This class will be held OUTDOORS. Bring a 4-7 wt. fly rod with a floating line. Also bring a hat and sunglasses to protect head and eyes. Instructor will provide a leader and practice fly to attach to your fly line. First class will meet in classroom before going outside to field.

Come learn more about both the artistic side--including composition and design--and the technical, such as aperture, shutter speed, loss and non-loss files, downloading to electronic formats, simple editing, and more. We will be outdoors shooting as much as daylight and weather permit. YOU MUST BRING TO EACH CLASS: CAMERA, MEMORY CARDS, CHARGED BATTERIES, ALL CORDS, and MANUAL. If it is rainy weather, please bring your LAPTOP, and if you have it, a memory card reader. Interested students 13-17 may register with a registering and participating parent or guardian. Limit 6 students.

Guitar for Fun*

In this class you will learn the basic chords and scales. By the end of the 6-week class you will be able to play songs for your own entertainment or to entertain others. You will need a guitar, Hal Leonard Guitar Lesson Book 1 (cost about $10) and a 3-ring binder for our class notes. However, please do not buy until you hear from the office. Bring songs that you know or want to learn and bring extra copies for other. Limit 10 students
