Prosperity and Good Fortune: Chinese Wonton Dumplings*

Prosperity and Good Fortune: Chinese Wonton Dumplings We will make Chinese dumplings with pork filling made from scratch in class. You will learn the multiple styles of folding dumplings using wonton wrappers. Then we will boil the won ton to make a classic wonton soup or chili oil wonton. Additionally, you will learn to make our own Sichuan-style chili oil and learn about other common Chinese condiments used for dipping sauces. All ingredients, materials, equipment and recipes will be provided. Plant-based ground meat can be substituted for the pork upon request. The dumpling wrappers include gluten. Limit 12 students. Self Supporting Registration Fee: $65

Come learn more about both the artistic side--including composition and design--and the technical, such as aperture, shutter speed, loss and non-loss files, downloading to electronic formats, simple editing, and more. We will be outdoors shooting as much as daylight and weather permit. YOU MUST BRING TO EACH CLASS: CAMERA, MEMORY CARDS, CHARGED BATTERIES, ALL CORDS, and MANUAL. If it is rainy weather, please bring your LAPTOP, and if you have it, a memory card reader. Interested students 13-17 may register with a registering and participating parent or guardian. Paint Your Pet

In this workshop budding artists will receive step-by-step guidance to create a beautiful portrait of their beloved furry of feathered companions. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this class is a fun and rewarding experience as you immortalize your pet on canvas. Are you thinking of adding a horse or pony to your family? Before you TOTALLY refuse your wonderful loving family or make such a major commitment, there are many things to consider. Join us to learn about what it takes to care for a horse or pony for feed, space, housing, good health and wellness, pasture pals, and the various grasses and diseases. We will also discuss equine behavior, anatomy, and physiology. We encourage families to join this class—young people 8 to 16 must be accompanied by their participating parent or guardian. Limit 25 students.

Learn to Ride a Bike*

If you never learned to ride a bike as a kid, you’re not alone and you’re not too late! We will guide you through simple steps to help get you rolling and build your confidence on two wheels. This class is open to teenagers and adults who haven’t learned to ride a bike before. Bring a 2-wheel bike to learn on—one where the seat can be set low enough to sit with both heels flat (no “tip-toes”) on the ground and knees slightly bent. We will focus on balancing, pedaling, and bicycle control. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17. When registering please mark this date on your calendar just in case it rains on May 10. Donations are welcome to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine by cash or check at class or via their website at www.bikemaine.org/donate. Limit 5 students.

Fix-A-Bike Spring Workshop*

Join us for a bike maintenance workshop for Teens and Adults. Are you curious about bicycle mechanics? Would you like to maintain your bike better, do repairs yourself, or get your bike ready for spring? Would you like to be better prepared to fix breakdowns when you are out on the road? Bring your bike and tool kit, if you have one. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17. When registering please mark this date on your calendar just in case it rains on May 10.
