Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education

This class is offered through Elm City Community Music School.

In this fun and engaging class, children, ages 5-8, will explore the exciting world of music through a variety of interactive activities! Each week, we’ll introduce new aspects of music-making, helping kids develop a love for rhythm, melody, and movement.   By the end of the class, students will not only have fun making music but will also gain a deeper understanding of the elements that make up music in an age-appropriate and playful way!

Meet your instructor

Torin Smith grew up in Dexter, Maine. He graduated from The University of Maine in 2022 with a Bachelors of Music Education, focusing on Percussion. He just finished his first year of professional education teaching General Music at George J. Mitchell Elementary School in Waterville. He has taught middle school level private lessons focusing on Snare Drum and Bells, and has conducted a high school level Percussion Ensemble in Old Town, Maine. Torin has performed in many different ensembles, including the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, University of Maine Symphonic and Concert Bands, Percussion Ensemble, and played in the pit orchestra for the University’s production of Into The Woods. He has also sung in The University of Maine Singers and been a co-section leader in Euphony for the past year. He currently lives in Winslow, Maine and can be found enjoying some local food.
