Acoustic Guitar II W17

We’ll continue what was covered in Guitar I, with some tablature reading of Greensleeves and others. We will spend time listening and playing to more great folk and blues guitarists like LeadBelly, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Cisco Houston, Gordon Lightfoot, Iris DeMent, Johnny Cash, Donovan, and more. Depending upon the class we may be able to learn and practice open tuning and some easy fingerpicking. Folks can take this without Guitar I if they know at least a dozen chords and how the capo works. Limit 5 students.

Ballroom Dancing, Introduction W17

Learn the basics of social dance in a fun and easy to learn format, even if you have two left feet! We will cover the most popular dances including Waltz, Swing, Tango, and more. Classes will cover patterns, musicality, partnership and other techniques to become comfortable and confident on the dance floor. Soft-soled shoes required. Limit 20 students (10 couples). Price is based on per couple registration. Please, when registering yourself and a partner, make sure you only include one registration!

Guitar, Introduction Messalonskee W17

This introductory guitar course is designed for beginners interested in learning how to play the guitar. We will cover guitar maintenance, string sizes, changing strings, choosing the proper guitar and care of the guitar. We will cover sight-reading, music theory, scales, and note values. We will also incorporate guitar processors and signal boxes, if you bring them, and learn how to set up amps. When you finish this course you should be able to pick up sheet music and know key, melody, chords, and changes. You will need to bring a guitar and the instructor will bring books, which you must purchase before the start of the first class - cost TBD - about $7. You will also need a 3-ring binder for your homework. The instructor welcomes students ages 10 and up. Parent or guardian must register and participate in the class with students under 17. Limit 10 students.

Line Dancing Messalonskee W17

We've been moving to the music since the beginning of time. Line dancing is one great way to keep the beat. No partner required. From beginners up to intermediate line dance steps look complicated, but they're really easy to master. It is great exercise too. You'll be strutting your stuff in no time at all. Join us for a fun night out. Please wear sneakers with clean soles. There will be no class on March 14 and April 18 - school vacation, and storm make up/s will be May 2 and May 9 if needed. Limit 30 students.
