The guitar is the world’s most popular instrument! I’ll start you off easy, and in this class you’ll learn the chromatic scale, how a capo works, tuning the guitar and the 16 chords you’ll need to play a jillion songs. We’ll listen to, play, and discuss early Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Iris DeMent, Gordon Lightfoot, Rory Block, Bruce Springsteen, and, of course, some Christmas music! We’ll learn how to read tablature and when your fingers get tired we’ll view some DVD’s for fun! By the second class you will need to bring a capo and picks. Limit 6 students.

Join Juan Rodriguez, a classically trained guitar instructor, to understand chord construction at a deeper level. This workshop is designed to help each student become a better player and performer. This Classical guitar workshop, led by local guitar instructor, Juan Rodriguez, will help you advance and enhance your playing skills. This hands-on workshop will refine scale techniques, site reading, practice routines, and so much more. Juan will provide feedback on your playing techniques through supportive coaching. Students must supply their own instruments. Additional lessons can be extended upon individual request. *Class on Sept. 21, will run from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Limit 10 students.

Learn the basics of social dance in a fun and easy to learn format, even if you have two left feet! We will cover the most popular dances including Waltz, Swing, Tango, and more. Classes will cover patterns, musicality, partnership and other techniques to become comfortable and confident on the dance floor. Soft-soled shoes required. Tuesday is a couples-only class and Wednesday is a couples or singles class. Limit 12 couples for the Tuesday class and 24 individuals for the Wednesday class.

This introductory guitar course is designed for beginners interested in learning how to play the guitar. We will cover guitar maintenance, string sizes, changing strings, choosing the proper guitar and care of the guitar. We will cover sight-reading, music theory, scales, and note values. We will also incorporate guitar processors and signal boxes, if you bring them, and learn how to set up amps. When you finish this course you should be able to pick up sheet music and know key, melody, chords, and changes. You will need to bring a guitar and the instructor will bring books, which you must purchase before the start of the first class - cost TBD - about $8. You will also need a 3-ring binder for your homework. The instructor welcomes students ages 10 and up. Parent or guardian must register and participate in the class with students under 17. Limit 10 students.
