Acoustic Guitar I W18

In this class for the total, near beginner, I’ll start you off easy. The guitar is the world’s most popular instrument! You’ll learn the chromatic scale, how a capo works, tuning, and the 16 chords you’ll need to play a jillion songs. We’ll listen to, play, and discuss early Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Iris DeMent, Gordon Lightfoot, Johnny Cash, and Rory Block, and more! Some DVD’s will be seen when your fingers get tired. You’ll need to bring a guitar, capo, picks, tuner, and notebook. Some practice will be required between classes. Limit 6 students.

Learn the basics of social dance in a fun and easy to learn format, even if you have two left feet! We will cover the most popular dances including Waltz, Swing, Tango, and more. Classes will cover patterns, musicality, partnership and other techniques to become comfortable and confident on the dance floor. Soft-soled shoes required. This is a “couples class”. $29 Fee is per couple. Limit 10 couples.

We’ve been moving to the music since the beginning of time. Line dancing is one great way to keep the beat. No partner required. From beginners up to intermediate line dancing steps look complicated, but they’re really easy to master. It is great exercise too. You’ll be strutting your stuff in no time at all. Join us for a fun night out. Wear comfortable clean sneakers that slide. Storm make up will be Apr. 24. Limit 25 students.

Join the Central Maine Square Dance Club for weekly exercising, socializing, and learning to square dance! Learn the basics in this class for beginners through mainstream students. Those who complete the course will be able to enjoy any mainstream dance! Bob Brown of Newport has been square dancing for over 20 years and dances all levels from basic, mainstream, and advanced. Bill Fulton has been calling and dancing for 40 years! Classes are always casual dress. Wear comfortable shoes! Singles or couples welcome. Limit 30 students
