Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education continues to collaborate with the Waterville Public Library Business, Career, & Creativity Center to offer an array of programs for area residents who need assistance with career and job searching, including the technology skills that are needed in today’s world.
• Job Search Lab
The Job Search Lab is for job seekers of all backgrounds. You can get ideas to improve your job search, work on your resume/cover letter, and learn about education and training options available in our area. No appointment necessary just drop-in! Staffed by Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education, Augusta CareerCenter, and New Ventures Maine. Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
• Job Search Navigator
Schedule an appointment to meet with Dana Hamilton, Employment/Resource Navigator with Kennebec Valley Community Action Program. Dana is available to help job seekers navigate job search tools and other resources in the Waterville region that can aid in your ability to get a job or improve your self-sufficiency. Call the Library at 207.680.2603 or stop by the Information Services Desk to schedule an appointment to meet with Dana on a Tuesday. Weekly. Appointment required.
• Job Seeking Assistance for Veterans
Veterans of the US military can get one to one assistance with job search activities, resume writing, and interviewing skills at the Waterville Public Library. This service is available via the Maine Department of Labor’s Maine CareerCenter system. Veterans should call 207-624-5120 and request to speak with a Veterans specialist. Weekly. Appointment required.
• Job Seeker Workshops
The Library regularly offers job seeker workshops on topics such as how to write a resume and cover letter, how to prepare for a job fair, career planning, interviewing, networking, looking for work with a criminal history, and more. Consult the watervillelibrary.org web site for exact dates and topics. Registration usually requested.
• Essentials of College Planning Information Session
This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. Register for a workshop at meoc.maine.edu/schedule.php or by calling 1-800-281-3703. Monthly. Registration required.
• Job Corps Information Session
Job Corps is a FREE residential vocational training program for eligible youth ages 16-24. Training is available in the construction, medical, hospitality, and administrative fields. Job Corps also offers training in employability skills and life skills. To learn more about Job Corps, call Cathy Gavett at 207-621-2350.
