Algebra Skills for College is an introductory algebra course designed to prepare students for MAT117 at KVCC and to improve scores on the ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra assessment. Students should have an ACCUPLACER score in arithmetic above 55 and an Elementary Algebra score between 30 - 75 indicating a need to improve skills for college level algebra. This course is designed to develop and solidify basic arithmetic and algebra skills that will be required in MAT117. In addition, this course will explore and solve one-variable linear equations and applications as well as simple algebraic concepts with geometric extensions. There will be a serious review of fractions, decimals, percent, automaticity in + and x. Math language is always a part of math development skills and will be strongly emphasized in this course as well.
Students whom successfully complete this course will be eligible for a scholarship for MAT 117 at KVCC. Limit 15 students. No class Feb. 22, and Apr. 19.
