Gentle Yoga is just that, a gentler approach to exploring movement linked with breath and body alignment. Props (which are all available at the studio) may include chairs, blocks, blankets, and yoga mats. Because chairs are always available, this a great class for students that may have any mobility limitations. Gentle Yoga is also a nice introduction to yoga if you’re feeling that you want to go a little slower. No prior yoga or meditation experience is necessary. Limit 24 students. No Class Apr. 17.

Getting Started in Social Media for Seniors Messalonskee W19

Do you want to start using social media but feel quite intimidated? This class will cover basics of how Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and other medias work. Smart phones are required for some apps. Up-to-date laptop or tablet is/are ok. Limit 8 students.

Grow Your Own Organic Garden Messalonskee W19

Are you interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner? Join us for an evening-long workshop on how to grow your garden organically. We will discuss the basics of soil science and how to enrich your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. The course will also cover the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotation, and how to incorporate green manures to manage nutrients in the garden. Other topics will include how to tell the difference between cultivated plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies, and cultural methods for dealing with pests. The instructor will be an experienced farmer or gardener from our area. You will receive free seeds, a copy of the presentation, and a resource guide! All welcome-from first timers to experienced gardeners. Limit 20 students.

Guitar for Intermediates Messalonskee W19

This class is for guitar players with some experience. You will review notes in the first position and open chords in the first position. We will learn movable scales, and movable bar (Barre) chords. The successful student in this class will have completed David’s Intro class or know notes in first position and basic open chords. Bring guitar and music stand. No class on Apr. 15. Limit 10 students.

This is a great choice for students who are not sure they can commit to a full-semester course. Each module will meet once a week for four weeks and are independent of the other modules. This allows students to take one, two or all of the modules over the course of the semester. Each completed module earns a student one-quarter high school credit towards their diploma, however, the modules are open to any adults in the community. No class Feb. 18.

Students who successfully complete this module will have a ME State Credit Union Savings account opened for them.
