Pickleball for Intermediates*

This class is for 3.0 to 3.5 Pickleball players who wish to become a smarter, more skillful doubles player and for those gearing up for tournament play. Please wear appropriate footwear—the instructor recommends court or tennis shoes and preferably pickleball shoes. There will be no class if it is raining or has rained making the court wet. Rain makeup will be Saturdays at the normal class time and depending on the forecast for Sunday we may meet a day early on Saturday. There will be no Pickleball on May 25. Limit 8 students.
Pickleball: Advanced | Skills and Drills*

Prerequisite for this class: You must have taken Jim’s Pickle Ball for Intermediate class previously or have permission from the instructor. Please call 465-9134 or email janderson@rsu18.org to be in touch with the instructor. In this class you will practice Skills and Drills with the idea of improving your game. Please wear appropriate footwear—the instructor recommends court or tennis shoes and preferably pickleball shoes. There will be no class if it is raining or has rained making the court wet. Rain makeup will be Saturdays at the normal class time and depending on the forecast for Sunday we may meet a day early on Saturday. There will be no Pickle Ball on May 25. Is your closet full of black-colored clothing? Would you like to learn what other colors look good on you? In this fun interactive class, you'll be draped in a variety of colors to learn about warmer and cooler tones to determine what types of colors look best on you. You'll also receive recommendations for eye shadows, blush and lipsticks, along with sunglasses colors and jewelry metals to flatter your coloring!! Limit 12 students.
Learn to Ride a Bike*

If you never learned to ride a bike as a kid, you’re not alone and you’re not too late! We will guide you through simple steps to help get you rolling and build your confidence on two wheels. This class is open to teenagers and adults who haven’t learned to ride a bike before. Bring a 2-wheel bike to learn on—one where the seat can be set low enough to sit with both heels flat (no “tip-toes”) on the ground and knees slightly bent. We will focus on balancing, pedaling, and bicycle control. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17. When registering please mark this date on your calendar just in case it rains on May 10. Donations are welcome to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine by cash or check at class or via their website at www.bikemaine.org/donate. Limit 5 students.
Fix-A-Bike Spring Workshop*

Join us for a bike maintenance workshop for Teens and Adults. Are you curious about bicycle mechanics? Would you like to maintain your bike better, do repairs yourself, or get your bike ready for spring? Would you like to be better prepared to fix breakdowns when you are out on the road? Bring your bike and tool kit, if you have one. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17. Tour of Messalonskee Lake*

This is a beautiful three-hour educational, and ecological tour to the farthest reaches of Messalonskee Lake aboard the Snowdrifter II--a 25’ Godfrey Sanpan Limited Edition Luxury Cruiser. You will see firsthand invasive milfoil as it passes alongside the boat just inches below the lake surface; learn about statewide eradication efforts all while enjoying the natural beauty of Messalonskee Lake. Search for Sandhill Cranes and endangered Least Bittern and Black Tern as we travel through the 1300-acre emergent wetland known as the Messalonskee Lake Marsh. The North American Bald Eagles may make their presence known, and you will learn about the history of the area and the lake. Captain Gary is a Registered Maine Guide and licensed commercial boat operator. Rain date will be announced later if needed. This is a handicap accessible boat for normal-size wheelchairs. Students must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian if between ages 10 and 17. Bathrooms available on shore, if necessary. Explore Messalonske Lake by Kayak*

Messalonskee Lake and Stream are wonderful natural resources of the mid-Maine region, offering numerous recreational and conservation activities.
If you’ve always wanted to learn to kayak and explore the lake’s ecology, this class will provide a free kayak lesson, with all necessary equipment supplied. You will also learn about the flora and fauna of the lake and stream, followed by a kayak paddle near shore to observe various specimens.
Prerequisite: Knowledge of basic swimming skills (we will stay close to shore).
What to Bring:
Be prepared with extra clothes in case you get wet.
Age Requirement: Must be 17 or older to register.
If needed, a rain date will be announced.
