Paint Morning: Great Horned Owl

Come join us and paint a Great Horned Owl. This beautiful bird with enormous yellow eyes is a fierce predator and if you’re lucky,you may spot one right before dusk. This Great Horned Owl paintclass is designed for beginners and Shirley Anderson will guide you step by step through the process of bringing your owl to life. Underpainting and dry brushing are a few of the painting techniques that you will learn how to do! Limit 10 students.

Create an Easter DecoMesh Wreath

Join ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, to create a beautiful deco-mesh wreath for your Easter celebration! Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is separate from the $30 registration fee. Amy will guide you through the process to create a cute Easter wreath to take home at the end of the class. The finished size is approximately 24 inches! You will have a choice of 4 different designs to pick from at the start of class. Each wreath design will have enough materials to create 5 wreaths. There will be a short break halfway through class with snacks. Storm date: Wednesday, 02/28/2024. Limit 20 students.

Create a “You Are My Sunshine” Sunflower Deco Mesh Wreath

ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, will provide all the materials to make a stunning Spring Sunflower wreath with a sign that says “You Are My Sunshine”. Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! Buying your first house is truly a big deal!  In this 8-hour, in person class we will cover everything you need to know about the home buying process and owning the home going forward. You will learn the steps involved in buying, how to set goals, and prepare for homeownership, explore loan products and credit, protect and grow your investment, and how to avoid being ripped off. A Homebuyers Education Certificate can help you access down payment assistance or mortgage products that require HUD-certified homebuyers education. It’s good for TWO years with most lenders! Register here at midmaine.maineadulted.org and the program will take you to the KVCAP registration site to finish the sign-up process—cost will be $30. Each person must register separately. Limit 24 students.

 

Introduction To Microsoft Excel

Do you manage large sets of numbers, names, dates, or otherpieces of information? If so, you need to create worksheets tomanage, store, organize, and even analyze this information.Excel, Microsoft’s powerful spreadsheet software, is the most widely-used program for this task. This course focuses on mas-tering the fundamentals of Excel. You will learn how to:

  1. Quickly and efficiently create fully formatted worksheets
  2. Use common formulas and functions
  3. Sort and analyze data
  4. Create custom charts and graphs

You will also learn about compatibility with other MS OfficeSuite products. Learners are required to bring a thumb drive toclass. There is no class on April 17.

Cooking Matters for Families

This class is specifically designed for the cooking challenges of Families!!!  There will be lessons in meal prep, grocery shopping, food budgeting, and nutrition.  You will learn to prepare and plan healthy meals, save money at the grocery store, keep food safe, and be more physically active.  We will talk about PICKY eaters, introducing new foods, and how to have your family be more involved with meal planning.  Participants will receive the ingredients for the recipes we create in each class to share with your family at home.  You will learn healthy new recipes and how to choose healthy foods.  Upon completion of the course, you will receive a gift bag of goodies including a new cookbook.  Kids are welcome to come to the last class.  The teacher will send you an online survey before class starts.  No class during school vacation April 16.  Limit 10 students.
