Are you just heading out on your own - college - first apartment? The four lessons in this series will cover cooking methods, meal prep, grocery shopping, budgeting, and nutrition. You will learn how to plan and prepare healthy meals, save money at the grocery store, keep food safe, and be physically active. This is a hands-on program with a focus on real-life skills. Each week we will prepare a recipe using the skills learned. Also you will learn new healthy recipes and how to choose healthy foods. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a gift bag of goodies including a new cookbook. No class Oct. 10. Limit 10 students.

Grow Your Own Garlic via Zoom Messalonskee F22

Are you interested in learning how to grow garlic? Join us for this Zoom workshop on growing garlic successfully and with the least fuss. We will discuss garden preparation and planting, good growing techniques, weed control AND basic troubleshooting. We will also include recipes for using all the parts of the plant. Great for first timers and more experienced gardeners. A starter package of 10 garlic cloves will be provided. This year we will take orders for garlic. At the time of registration, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you would like to order and how much - $9 for a half pound and $16 for a full pound. You will be notified when your garlic has arrived at Messalonskee High School for you to pick up. You will also receive an information sheet attached to your online registration receipt. Pottery Messalonskee F22

In this class you will be introduced to a variety of hand-building methods to produce clay work. First-time students will be given individual attention, while more experienced artists may work at their desired pace. No prior experience required. Glazing and decorating techniques will also be covered. Three Pottery wheels will be available for students to try (one class lesson will be provided). Come with your ideas and dress in work clothes. A $25 lab fee (no credit cards please) is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Must be 17 to register. Art Pick-up on Nov. 17, from 5:30-6:00 p.m. No class Oct. 6. Limit 12 students.
Stained Glass Messalonskee F22

In this class, Beginners will learn the step-by-step process of Tiffany’s copper foil stained glass design. You will complete a beautiful glass panel; participate in a field trip on the second class to the stained glass shop in Manchester. At the end of the class you will have gained the fundamental skills to continue a new and beautiful hobby and craft. The kit is $120, and there will be other materials that you will need to purchase, such as glass which will be $40-$50. For Intermediate students: You will work independently and under the teacher’s watchful eye as you advance your techniques. If you have been thinking about learning Stained Glass or improving your skills this is your chance! Intermediate lab fee $10 payable to the instructor. Oct. 6 will be the Field Trip. (If you have tools and supplies from previously, you will not need to buy more.) Storm date of Nov. 10. Limit 10 students.
