Do you have an adventurous heart? Would you love to travel but not alone? We are a group of local adults with a common passion for travel that meet regularly to hike, walk, snowshoe, visit wineries and museums or otherwise socialize to get to know each other, and many of us travel together home and abroad! Join us for an evening of images and stories from local adventures and group trips in recent years: Safari in Tanzania, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Peru, Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain and the US National Parks... AND learn about upcoming trips! JOIN US AND TRAVEL WITH FRIENDS! Microsoft Power Point: In this presentation software program you will learn to cut, copy and paste, along with learning about different fonts to create slide shows. You will learn to import from other files like Word, Excel, and the Internet and learn about compatibility with other MS Office Suite products. Microsoft Publisher: The Publisher program is designed to aid you in designing your own calendars, cards, and invitations, to name only a few of the many ways to use this program. Students need to bring a thumb drive to class. Limit 12 students.

Pastels for All Levels F18

In this class we will explore the medium of pastels to create vibrant and luminous paintings. In addition to learning the techniques of painting in pastels, students will experiment with using expressive color in a variety of subject matter, with a concentration on landscapes. The principles of composition, design, value and color will be integrated in all sessions and the care and framing of pastel paintings will be explained. Beginning and more experienced students are welcome! A supply list is available on our FAQ tab at Storm date of Dec. 12. Limit 10 students.

Soap Making Workshop and Demo Messalonskee F18

This age-old process is simple yet tricky. Learn to combine lye, fat, and water to make soap, and learn safety tips. During this soap making demonstration and information night you will get a lot of pointers and helpful hints. A $5 lab fee is payable to the instructor at start of class for your soap, and there will be other soaps available to purchase in the classroom. Limit 8 students.

Substitute Teacher Training November F18

Substitute teaching in the public schools can be very rewarding as well as very challenging. In this workshop an experienced and well-respected local substitute teacher will share his knowledge and strategies with those who want to find success as a substitute teacher. Topics will include classroom and behavior management, the substitute survival pack, resources and expectations from local schools, helpful hints to keep any classroom on track, and information about staff conduct, affirmative action and harassment policies. Persons who successfully complete this two-hour workshop will receive a certificate that will be acknowledged by local schools as part of the application packet. Limit 10 students.
